Mitsubishi MSW Gasification & Ash Melting System : Ash Melting Process
[ Waste to Energy System ]
[ ENVIRONMENT ]

Distributors :

Ash is melted in melting furnace without auxiliary fuel by combustion of combustible gas and unburned char produced by gasification process. As the result of this ash melting, molten slag is produced and discharged from the bottom of the melting furnace.

Recycle of Usable Metals

Total ash volume can be reduced by ash melting by 50 to 75 percent compared to the other type of WtE system.

Reuse of Molten Slag

Molten slag discharged from the bottom of the melting furnace is usable as civil construction materials like road bed materials, asphalt paving materials etc.

Dioxins Free

In the melting process, dioxins are decomposed by high temperature combustion at 1,300 to 1,500 degree C. Dioxins can be kept at a quite low level by high temperature combustion at 1,300 to 1,500 degree C, compared to the regulation value stipulated in EURO 2000.

Dioxins at Stack
EURO 2000 regulation Less than 0.1 ng-TEQ/Nm3
Mitsubishi System (Kushiro Plant) 0.00011 to 0.0055 ng-TEQ/Nm3
Dioxins in Molten slag
Mitsubishi System (Kushiro Plant) 0 ng-TEQ/g (Under limit of determination)
