This is a structural diagram of a geared compressor. The multi-shaft, multi-stage structure contains a cascade of gears, with the wheel gear and the multiple pinion gears on the outside of it driving multiple impeller shafts. By changing each of the gear ratios, it is possible to operate each impeller at the optimal speed, for high-efficiency operation.
