MHI Group's TFT Activities Are Introduced at an Activity Report Meeting in Osaka

TABLE FOR TWO International (TFT) is an NPO launched in Japan with the aim of rectifying the two-faceted global food imbalance marked by undernutrition in the developing countries and obesity in the economically advanced nations. The MHI Group heartily supports TFT's aims and has instituted TFT programs in its corporate dining rooms at the Head Office and all plants, in its on-site beverage vending machines, etc.

In our corporate dining facilities, for every healthy meal-i.e. a meal prepared according to TFT guidelines-eaten, the MHI Group donates 20 yen to TFT. Through TFT, the accumulated funds are used to provide hot meals (at a cost of 20 yen per meal) to school children in Africa and Asia. In a similar way, every time a healthy beverage is purchased from a vending machine on Company premises, part of the money collected is donated to TFT.

The MHI Group has taken an active role in the TFT program since 2010, and through March 2018 employees ate more than 90,000 healthy meals at Company cafeterias. This has enabled the distribution of an equal number of meals to school children in Africa and Asia.

On July 11, employees of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) participated on behalf of the MHI Group in an Activity Report Meeting in Osaka organized by TFT. At the meeting, they spoke of how TFT activities within the Group originally got underway spontaneously, and how today TFT activities are proactively undertaken at all Company plants, including support through the healthy lunch program and the sale of TFT-approved beverages. The reports were followed by a panel discussion by employees of various companies involved in the TFT program. This gave our Group employees a valuable opportunity to learn about social contribution activities underway at other companies.

At the end of the session, a TFT representative presented the MHI Group with a Certificate of Appreciation for its cooperation and support of children in developing countries.

Going forward, in accordance with its CSR Action Guidelines, the MHI Group will continue its active participation in the TFT program not only to resolve issues of famine and poverty, but also to provide learning opportunities to children in need.
