Since fiscal 2013, in line with its CSR Action Guidelines and its commitments to "create a more harmonious society" and "inspire the future," the MHI Group has supported the Shiki Theatre Company's “Kokoro no Gekijo" (Theater of the Heart) musical productions aimed at cultivating a richness of spirit among children of the next generation across Japan. Group employees, as well as their family members, regularly assist as volunteers at the troupe's performances near their workplaces.

On January 31 and February 1, the Shiki Theatre Company performed "Gamba's Great Adventure" in the Amagasaki Cultural Center's Archaic Hall in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture. The shows were enjoyed by approximately 3,500 sixth graders from 42 elementary schools in Amagasaki. On February 7, performances of the same musical were presented in the main hall of the Miki City Cultural Hall, also in Hyogo, attended by 700 sixth graders from 17 schools in Miki City. Five MHI Group employees assisted as volunteers on February 1, and three on February 7. In addition to ushering the young guests to their seats, the volunteers also helped prepare and dismantle the stage sets.

In "Gamba's Great Adventure," the main character, a mouse named Gamba, and his companions face a variety of difficulties. Through this story, the children in the audience learn the importance of courage and kindness in life. It is hoped that seeing the musical will help to cultivate a richness of spirit in them.

Going forward, through various opportunities the MHI Group will continue to actively support the development of the children of the next generation.
