MHI to Establish Kuala Lumpur Office in Malaysia to Enhance Responsiveness to Large-scale Social Infrastructure Improvement Projects
Tokyo May 29, 2013 - Effective June 1, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will establish an office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MHI aims to enhance its ability to respond to business opportunities related, but not limited, to power generation plant projects, urban transportation system projects, and other emerging large-scale social infrastructure improvement projects supported by the country's robust economic growth. The office will also function as a base for dynamic information gathering and marketing support activities for the exploration of future projects and development of prospective customers.
The Kuala Lumpur Office will independently conduct the market research and enhance the customer relations. It will also integrally utilize various information about Malaysia held by MHI, and will feed back necessary information to each business units to assist to obtain new orders.
In recent years, Malaysia has taken significant deregulation initiatives, adopted policies to promote trade and investment, and engaged in economic innovation aimed transform itself into an industrialized country by 2020. In addition, many large-scale infrastructure improvement projects are being planned and undertaken. Reflecting these developments, MHI already received an order for a large-scale fertilizer plant construction project in 2011 and for the first line of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit project in 2012.
Going forward, MHI will work closely with the customers and markets in Malaysia through its Kuala Lumpur Office, and will further grow up its activities to promote businesses that contribute to the development of Malaysia's economy.
