Q1 Please tell us about your work and its relation to MISSION NET ZERO.

I am responsible for new inquiries and sales of compressors and their steam turbine drivers used in various plants around the world, planned by European plant owners and engineering companies.

High-pressure CO₂ compression technology is indispensable for CCUS facilities, which separate, capture, utilize, and store CO₂ emissions from plants. With the global shift toward decarbonization, demand for compressors capable of this CO₂ compression has been growing steadily. Leveraging our track record of delivering over 100 CO₂ compressors for urea fertilizer plants, we are actively pursuing projects that contribute to decarbonization.

While most of our CO₂ compressor deliveries have been single-shaft designs, customers in the power generation sector usually prefer multi-shaft, multi-stage designs for reasons of efficiency, cost, and foot-print considerations. To address these needs, we are standardizing products based on CO₂ recovery capacity and actively sharing concepts and development progress to expand sales of our enhanced multishaft, multi-stage compressors.

Q2 What is your message to MHI Group employees on achieving carbon neutrality by 2040?

The first project I handled after joining the company was a CO₂ compressor for CCS, installed alongside an LNG plant in Qatar, which we secured in 2022. This fiscal year, we have also confirmed an order for a follow-up project, which is expected to contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions in LNG production in Qatar.

To further strengthen our presence in a decarbonized society, we will continue to work closely with our overseas offices and MHI Group companies to propose competitive compressors that reflect our customers’ needs.
