Regarding the Statement by the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission on Vehicle Air-conditioner Compressor Trade

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
August 1 (Mexico time) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) hereby informs its stakeholders that, although it signed a judicial trade agreement with the US Ministry of Justice regarding sales of products such as vehicle air-conditioner compressors to certain customers on September 26, 2013 (US Eastern Standard Time), the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) announced on August 1 (Mexican time) that it has decided to impose penalties on MHI for violating the country's "Federal Economic Competition Law" (Mexican competition law) in respect of part of these sales activities.

Since there was suspicion of violation of the competition law, this case was subject to a COFECE investigation, with which MHI fully cooperated.

In the above-mentioned statement, MHI received recognition that it was past actions that were in violation of the competition law, and that MHI had already ceased actions that were suspected to be in violation before the start of the investigation. MHI applied to COFECE for a reduction in the penalty, and this was approved since it was deemed that the requirements were fulfilled.

There is no change in MHI's consolidated earnings forecast for this fiscal year (year ending March 31 2017) due to the payment of this penalty.

MHI Group will continue to ensure compliance in the future.
