Since fiscal 2013, in line with its CSR Action Guidelines and its commitments to "create a more harmonious society" and "inspire the future," the MHI Group has supported the Shiki Theatre Company's "Kokoro no Gekijo" (Theater of the Heart) musical productions aimed at cultivating a richness of spirit among children of the next generation across Japan. Group employees, as well as their family members, regularly assist as volunteers at the troupe's performances near their workplaces.

On November 21, the Shiki Theatre Company gave a performance of "Gamba's Great Adventure" at the Mihara Performing Arts Center Popolo in Mihara, Hiroshima Prefecture. This was followed on November 22 by a performance of the same musical at the Higashi Hiroshima Arts & Cultural Hall Kurara (Main Hall) in Higashihiroshima City. The performance in Mihara was attended by 792 sixth graders from 20 elementary schools in the city, while the show in Higashihiroshima was watched by 1,079 sixth graders from 16 local elementary schools-making for a total of 1,870 children combined. One MHI Group employee and two family members assisted as volunteers guiding the students to their seats-two on November 21 and one on November 22.

In "Gamba's Great Adventure," the main character, a mouse named Gamba, and his companions face a variety of difficulties. Through this story, the children in the audience learn the importance of courage and kindness in life. It is hoped that seeing the musical will help to cultivate a richness of spirit in them.

Going forward, through various opportunities the MHI Group will continue to actively support the development of the children of the next generation.
