REASON FOR SUGGESTION:
Aluminum is generally known as the labyrinth seal material. But sometimes it cannot have sufficient durability when it is exposed to severe corrosive environment depending on the gas conditions and compositions.
In such cases, PEEK material can be considered as the alterative materials.
DETAILS OF SUGGESTION:
PEEK (Poly-ether-ether-ketone) is one of the engineering plastics and. PEEK labyrinth seal has the following advantages.
- PEEK has good resistance property to the corrosive environment, which will corrode the aluminum labyrinth seal. (e.g. caustic, mercury, etc.)
- PEEK labyrinth seal can be replaced with conventional labyrinth seals without any modification of diaphragms.
It is NOT recommended to apply PEEK under high temperature environment above 120 deg c.
