REASON FOR SUGGESTION:
The gear-type coupling may cause abnormal vibration and bearing temperature rise, etc., because the gear tooth is possible to be deteriorated in long term operation and it may restrict the function of the misalignment capability.
On the other hand, diaphragm-type coupling has the following advantages:
- No coupling lock caused by seizure between the tooth surfaces
- No abnormal force causing the shaft vibration and excessive thrust force due to the above coupling lock
- No lubricating oil/grease is required.
- Larger capability for vertical and horizontal misalignment.
DETAILS OF SUGGESTION:
The replacement with the diaphragm-type coupling is recommended.
In general, the diaphragm coupling is larger in flange diameter, the existing coupling guard may not be reused and it may be newly manufactured.
