Inventory Control Specialist
Supporting the Field by Connecting People, Processes, and Systems
Background and Journey to CMSI
Can you share your background and what brought you to CMSI?
I am originally from Cameroon in West Africa. I came to the United States at the age of 18 to study and majored in accounting. After that, I worked in several roles related to accounting and inventory control, including positions in different companies and in the hotel industry.
When I moved to Florida, I joined CMSI in an inventory control role, which aligned well with my background and experience.
What inspired you to pursue this career?
The position at CMSI was related to inventory control, which matched my experience. During the interview process, I learned more about the nature of the business and the challenges the company was facing. I saw opportunities where improvements could be made, and that motivated me to take on the role and contribute.
Role and Daily Work
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day involves working across many departments. I coordinate with HR, handle invoices, work with managers on purchase orders, and support engineers. I interact with many teams throughout the day, which helps me understand their work and support them more effectively.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the nature of the business and the fact that my role allows me to work with many different departments. It gives me a broad understanding of operations and keeps the work engaging.
Growth, Projects, and Learning
How has your career grown since joining CMSI?
Since joining CMSI, I have learned how to be effective, not just efficient. Working closely with engineers and different teams has helped me understand the importance of process, coordination, and impact.
Can you share a project you are particularly proud of?
One project I am especially proud of is the electronic work order initiative I am working on with Ken. This project has strong potential because it reduces processing time and improves efficiency.
By connecting systems such as MMIS and SAP, it helps close gaps in the workflow and makes the process easier for engineers and other teams.
Values and Professional Perspective
What is a lesson you have learned at CMSI that has shaped you professionally?
I have learned that things must be done the right way. In this business, downtime is critical, and preparation is essential. We need to anticipate issues and be ready, rather than reacting after problems occur.
What excites you most about the future of CMSI?
CMSI’s work supports airport operations, which carry significant responsibility. This is not just a regular job—we are supporting the movement of people, flights, and airport operations. Knowing that my work directly contributes to that responsibility is very motivating.
Looking Ahead and Message
Where do you see yourself growing within CMSI?
I see myself continuing to grow with the company. CMSI is still developing, and I believe there are many opportunities to improve processes and operations. I want to keep learning in my current role and gradually take on greater responsibility.
What message would you give to young people interested in this field?
At CMSI, you are exposed to many different aspects of the business. Instead of working in a very narrow role, you can gain experience across a wide range of areas, from A to Z. That kind of exposure is valuable for long-term growth.
