Post irradiation examination and irradiation behavior evaluation
Purpose of the post irradiation examination
The developed and improved fuel is irradiated in an actual nuclear reactor and transported to our fuel hot laboratory facility for the post irradiation examination of fuel rods and fuel assembly components to ensure that the designed performance is achieved.

Details of the post irradiation examination of fuel rods and use of data
In the post irradiation examination of fuel rods in particular, non-destructive tests such as appearance observation and dimensional measurement as well as destructive tests such as cladding tube tensile tests and fission product gas analysis are performed using various remote-controlled test devices installed in hot cells and equipment analysis rooms. The data collected and accumulated in the post irradiation examination will be effectively reflected in fuel improvement and development. In recent years, tests have also been conducted to confirm the integrity of fuel during intermediate storage (safe storage of spent fuel).
