Masahiko Kato, President
Masahiko Kato, President

Thank you for visiting the MHI Nuclear Development website.

Our company was established in 1990 as a result of the aggregation of research facilities, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Tokai Examination Institute (established in 1972) and Mitsubishi Atomic Power Industries Tokai Institute (established in 1986).
As a member of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, since the dawn of nuclear power in Japan, we have been engaged in various research and development and testing programs to improve the safety and reliability of the treatment and disposal of nuclear fuel and reactor component materials used in nuclear power plants and generated waste for about half a century since the establishment of our predecessor, Tokai Examination Institute.

In January 2022, our company changed its name to MHI Nuclear Development. Under the new company name, which bears the name of "MHI" and clearly states the "nuclear research and development," we will make use of the technologies and experience we had accumulated over half a century to advance the sophistication of nuclear technologies and research and development commensurate with our new name, and will respond more aggressively than before in new fields of endeavor.

As part of Mitsubishi's nuclear energy business, we will continue to place the highest priority on safety and security in our research, development, and testing, and we would appreciate your continued support.
