Policy of Quality, Environment, Safety and Health
MHI Nuclear Development Corporation, as a research and development company specializing in research and development in the fields of nuclear fuel, nuclear reactor materials, nuclear fuel cycle, radioactive waste, nuclear reactor chemistry, and radiation technology, conducts research, development, testing, inspection, manufacture, analysis, and transportation in these fields. In addition, the company has usage facilities, etc., prescribed in the Act on the Regulation of Nuclear Source Material, Nuclear Fuel Material and Reactors and performs safety activities related to the use, disposal, storage, and transportation of nuclear fuel materials or materials contaminated by nuclear fuel materials.
As a nuclear business operator engaged in these activities, our company has established the following Quality, Environment, and Safety and Health Policy to ensure highly reliable quality that meets the requirements of laws and regulations, as well as to continuously reduce environmental impact, and maintain and ensure occupational health and safety, placing the highest priority on ensuring safety.
(1) Fostering of a nuclear safety culture
We will instill in all employees the importance of quality assurance, environmental protection, and safety and health, and foster a climate with a high level of quality awareness and a culture that prioritizes nuclear safety with an awareness of corporate social responsibility.
(2) Thorough compliance with laws and regulations
In order to achieve, maintain, and improve nuclear safety, we will strictly observe the requirements of laws, criteria, rules, regulations, and agreements with neighboring municipalities, and give appropriate consideration to the ethical standards of society in general.
(3) Efforts for quality
We will constantly strive to improve our technical capabilities and quality in order to meet customer requirements based on the premise of nuclear safety and to provide high quality products that will earn customer trust and satisfaction.
(4) Efforts for environment
We will promote the safe use of nuclear energy through nuclear research and development activities, contribute to solving the global warming problem, strive to improve environmental awareness, cooperate with neighboring communities, and continuously reduce environmental impact (reduction of CO2 emissions, energy and resource conservation, and suppression of generation of radioactive and other wastes), aiming to realize a better local environment and an affluent society.
(5) Efforts for occupational health and safety
We will ensure the safety of people, facilities, and equipment above all else to create a safe, healthy, and comfortable workplace.
(6) Efforts for continuous improvement
We will periodically review the appropriateness of our quality, environment, and safety and health management systems (management reviews and internal audits), respond quickly and flexibly to changes in society, and continuously improve the appropriate world-class management systems.
(7) Setting of quality objectives
We set appropriate quality objectives (activity plans) for quality, environment, and safety and health, and develop effective activities to achieve these objectives. We will review these quality objectives as necessary while taking the social environment, customer needs, etc., into consideration.
