Our Heritage
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group's tagline "MOVE THE WORLD FORWARD" represents our commitment to working together with our customers, partners, and communities across the globe to make the world a better place.
It also speaks to MHI Group's focus on shared success. Our business areas cover land, sea, sky, and even space, making it fair to say our positive impact reaches beyond the world. It is our promise, and a strong call to action for MHI Group employees, to continually look for new ways to create a better future and to help our customers, partners and stakeholders to do the same.
Our History
In 1996, MHI initiated a consortium of independent contractors operating within Bombardier’s manufacturing facility, marking the beginning of MHICA. This partnership undertook final completion activities and addressed outstanding work on products originating from Japan. MHICA was officially incorporated in Ontario in 2006.
In 2007, MHICA acquired a 90,000 square foot facility to initiate operations focused on the assembly of Global wings, centre fuselage integration, and systems installation for products sourced from MHI Japan. The following year saw the transfer of the Challenger series wing assembly and systems installation to Canada. By 2012, the growing demands of our operations necessitated a relocation from our Meadowvale facility to Mississauga, offering approximately 270,000 square feet of workspace. This transition also enabled the relocation of the Global 5500/6500 wing major assembly to Canada. Recognizing continued expansion, an additional 70,000 square foot facility was established in 2013 to house our Supply Chain and Logistics Centre.
As MHICA marks more than 18 years since incorporation, we take pride in our identity as a collective of dedicated employees. We are united in our commitment, diligence, and alignment with the values and objectives of MHICA. We contribute to Ontario’s aerospace sector and are committed to developing the next generation of aerospace professionals.
