On October 24, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, conducted a preliminary class at Okaeda Elementary School as part of its community contribution activities. The class was held in advance of a planned tour of the Enoura Plant of MHI’s Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works in Yamaguchi Prefecture, with the aim of deepening elementary school students’ understanding of shipbuilding processes and the maritime industry.
On the day of the class, engineers from Mitsubishi Shipbuilding visited the school and gave an engaging and easy-to-understand presentation to 13 fifth-grade and 20 sixth-grade students. The session covered topics such as “how ships are built” and “the role of ships in the maritime industry.” The students listened attentively, enjoyed learning the basics of shipbuilding, and actively asked questions throughout the session.
MHI Group will continue to actively promote initiatives that convey the appeal of manufacturing as part of its efforts to contribute to local communities and support the development of the next generation.
