MET-MB Series turbocharger achieved the Production Record of 2,000 sets

Tokyo, Japan, January 23, 2018 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Equipment Co., Ltd. (MHI-MME) has achieved 2,000 sets production record of MET-MB series turbochargers.

Axial MET-MB series is successor model of former MET-MA series which has more than 2,500 sets production record and if fits high pressure ratio application required by main engine. MET-MB series are applicable to all three 2-stroke engine brands, Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG), MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (MDT) and Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. (WinGD).

The first MET-MB type MET71MB was delivered in 2011 and a new frame size MET37MB turbocharger added on May 2017. MHI-MME expanding lineup of MET series is outstanding in axial turbocharger market and respond to the variety of engine needs.

We have developed original technology of turbocharger in 1965 corresponding to variety of needs from engine development over 40 years and MET turbochargers market share among two-stroke marine propulsion engines is around 40%.

MHI-MME has licensed to three major engine manufacturers in Korea. (Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Doosan Engine Co., Ltd. and STX Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.)

The axial turbochargers production record is over 16,000 sets and, succeeding to achieving MET-MB series turbochargers production record of 2,000 sets, MHI-MME will continue to deliver turbochargers that satisfy customer needs in both performance and services.
