Tokyo, February 17, 2017 - Starting in May Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd., a Group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), will progressively launch a total of 18 new models of indoor units of its multi air-conditioners for commercial use. The lineup includes three basic types: 1) ceiling-mounted units with 4-way air outlets that can accommodate "AirFlex," the industry's first function that suppresses the unpleasant draftiness typically felt when air blows directly on a person - already garnering acclaim as the indoor unit of the company’s packaged air-conditioners; 2) wall-mounted units featuring a brand-new design; and 3) floor-standing duct type units.

The ceiling-mounted units (FDT type) equipped with 4-way air outlets that can accommodate AirFlex panels and the wall-mounted units (FDK type) will be available in a lineup of 15 models with capacities ranging from 2.8 to 16 kilowatts (kW). The floor-standing duct type units (FDAS type) will come in a new lineup of three models: 14 kW, 22.4 kW, and 28 kW.

When the AirFlex function goes into operation, dedicated wings emerge from the panels set in the indoor unit that prevent air from blowing directly on the people in the room, thereby elevating the level of comfort. The outlet louver wings and the AirFlex wings are axially aligned, creating a design of outstanding functional beauty. When the indoor unit is turned off, the wings retract into the unit, to preserve integral beauty.

The wall-mounted units adopt a sharp, stylish design that is highly compatible with a diverse array of tastes in interior design.

The floor-standing duct type room units come equipped with a highly efficient and powerful motor that enables enhanced airflow volume and strength. They achieve outstandingly energy-efficient cooling or heating of expansive spaces in factories, etc.

The ceiling-mounted units with AirFlex-compatible 4-way air outlets and the wall-mounted units will be launched simultaneous with multi air-conditioner indoor units for commercial applications that can be connected to gas heat pump air-conditioners that operate on city gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Going forward, MHI Thermal Systems will continue to vigorously pursue the development and marketing of air-conditioning products that offer energy efficiency, operating ease and comfort in line with market needs.
