Employee Volunteers Accompanied Children with Life-threatening Illnesses, and their Families, on a Memory-making Overnight Trip to Tokyo in November

Prior to the trip, the MHI Group volunteers investigated the logistical features of the various facilities to be visited, including routes for traveling around the sites, to enable the children and their families to move about the premises smoothly. Then during the two-day trip, together with volunteers from other companies they did everything possible to make the trip to Tokyo a relaxed and enjoyable occasion for both the children and their families. Their hospitality services consisted of helping to navigate through the crowds, getting tickets to the attractions, securing a convenient place for lunch, and taking photos to preserve the memory of this outing for the families.

After the trip, comments made by the participating volunteers revealed how significant the experience had been for them. One remarked, "I was hoping to be able to contribute, even a little, to making this a fun and memorable occasion for the families." Another said, "Even though what we can do as individuals may be small, I realized how, by cooperating and helping one another, it leads to strong support." One other stated, "I was happy to be able to see the smiles and joy on the faces of the family members."

In keeping with the commitment incorporated into the CSR Action Guidelines to "create a more harmonious society," the MHI Group will continue to support the participation of its employees in volunteer activities such as these that provide meaningful opportunities for interacting directly with various members of society.
